Q. What is process art?
A. Process art quite simply is all about the doing with no right or wrong way. Making art for the experience rather than focusing on the end product. This doesn't mean we won't create beautiful work that your child is proud of and you can't wait to display- we will! But the focus will always be on experience and exploration first.

Q. Why process art?
A. Process art gives children permission to experiment, make mistakes, try new things, explore materials, techniques and tools in different ways, and helps grow creativity and imagination. The end results are unique and original to each child- meaning they will always take home something they are proud of and love.
Q. Can you make more days/times available? I can't make any of the listed classes.
A. I'm always willing to open up more days/times for groups of 3 or more so please send me an email and let me know days/times that work for you. If others also want these days/times I'll open up a class. I also offer private playdates- I set up the studio for your group, you come play and create, then I do all the clean up!

Q. What should my child wear?
A. Clothes they can get messy! While the materials we use are technically "washable" this doesn't always mean they will come out 100% so leave things you don't want possibly stained at home. Setting aside an already ripped or stained outfit as an "ArtPlay uniform" is a great option. You may also wish to choose a white shirt as your "ArtPlay uniform" to highlight the mess and creation process! For the youngest artists, stripping down to a diaper and saving clothes for after clean up works well too.

Q. Why don't you have the children wear aprons?
A. Children often find plastic art aprons uncomfortable, hot, or restrictive and fight wearing them. Since aprons don't cover everything we often still end up with children covered in paint. I find it best to give children full creative freedom in the clothing they are most comfortable in and to then focus on clean up once creating is finished.

Q. Do adults or children need to wear masks? What are the Covid procedures?
A. I take Covid-19 and children's health and safety seriously. Masks are optional and we will follow all local mandates. Materials are washed daily, class numbers are kept low to allow safe spacing, and a HEPA air filter is running in the studio in addition to the main air filtration system. If you or your child are feeling ill please do not attend class at Bull City ArtPlay.

Q. Why isn't there a drop-in option? I'm not sure I'm ready to commit to a full term.
A. Come check out a free class and see if it's a fit for your child! For drop-in studio time to be worthwhile to students, they need to be comfortable in the space and know how to utilize materials and stations. Having the same peers in class each week helps children begin to form friendships that will aide them in teamwork and collaboration later while creating. Having this weekly community experience allows children to feel more comfortable to jump in right away each week playing and creating. Be sure to follow us on Instagram or join our email list as I will be posting one time, themed pop-up classes several times a month in addition to weekly classes.

Q. Can I drop off my child?
A. Baby/toddler classes are only with a caregiver. Preschool classes allow students more independence- once your child is comfortable, you may choose to hang out in our waiting room or the waiting area by the elevator. For school age children, you may choose to wait in the waiting room or the waiting area by the elevator. Please be on time for pick-up.

Q. Do you offer make-up classes?
A. At the time, due to limited scheduling I cannot guarantee there will be a makeup time that works with your schedule but I welcome you to come to any of the classes the week of or after your missed class to make up a missed class.
